Get Wild on A Budget!

Finding bright, colorful, pigmented high-quality eye shadows can, at times, be pretty difficult to come across in your local drugstores. It's so easy to overlook something when you see prices as low as the brand Wet n Wild. Do NOT let their tiny prices fool you :) The picture shown is of all of the Color Icon pallets that are available, for only $4.99 a pop! Crazy, right? For that pocket change you get some of the very best quality eye shadows you can find. I thoroughly enjoy these, and always recommend them to anyone looking for awesome shadows without paying an arm and leg.

My personal pros for these eye shadows are as followed:
- They're cheap!!!
- Excellent color pay off
- Very easy to blend
- Wide variety of unique colors
- They give you recommended "instructions"
- Compact for traveling

My only con.... They're a tad bit powdery. So make sure to tap off any excess.

I hope this mini review was helpful for anyone looking for good drugstore eye shadows :) Let me know in the comments how you liked them, or not, if you try these out!

Stay beautiful, Kayla <3

My Passion

You know what... I must say that I am entirely grateful for the internet! If I hadn't started watching makeup tutorials on YouTube I wouldn't be doing all of you ladies' makeup all the time hehe.. I have learned more than I ever imagined I would, or could, by sitting in front of a computer. Watching all these beautiful and talented ladies on the internet has so much enhanced my skills to be able to make people not only feel beautiful about their looks on the outside, but their "looks" on the inside as well!! Nothing brings me greater joy than to transform someone to what they never thought they could be, and to see the excitement and astonishment on their pretty lil faces! So thank you, Lord for giving me such a wonderful talent and the endless ability to enhance the beauty of all who come to me. I hope and pray that my career in makeup artistry will exceed everyone's expectations, including my own. If you have a passion for something, and might be a little scared to just go for it... don't! Strive to be the best that you can be in all you do, of course, BUT especially your passion! Because when you are so passionate about something, and give it your all you will NEVER go wrong. God will give you what you deserve, and what he thinks is best for your life!

So I hope you all can take a little something from my "ranting of thankfulness", and just go for your dreams and never give them up... no matter what people may say, no matter the doubts others may have. Be the best that you can be, and you'll go far!

With a fire fire for beauty in my heart, and with all my love,
Kayla

A Witchy Trick

Has your super oily skin been a witch of a problem? Well the best solution is to fight a witch with a witch hehe! Witch Hazel has been known to be a great toner for the skin. It cleanses as well as maintain excessive oil by drying it up without drying out the skin, AND is all natural so you aren't putting any yucky, harsh chemicals on your face. I, myself, have EXTREMELY oily skin!! So much as when I wake up in the morning it looks and feels like I dipped my face in a tub of grease (yes, it's gross, I know). I followed the directions the other night by applying this with a cotton pad all over my face after having washed and dried my skin. The smell is a little funky, but completely bearable once you see the awesome results!! I woke up the next morning and touched my face with almost disbelief. My skin wasn't oily AT ALL! Crazy huh? I made sure to check my face throughout the rest of the day, and was so pleasantly surprised to find that it hadn't got its typical "shiny disco ball-ness" as usual! I am so beyond happy with this product, and can not wait to see all the other benefits and results I will see with the Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel. So all of you suffering from oily skin... GO BUY THIS STUFF! Haha! What are you waiting for?!

With all my love, but without my "disco ball" have a wonderful day, Kayla

Clean Sweep

Now... for being a makeup artist you would think I would have tried out this amazing little "Miracle in a Bottle" (as I now call it) a long, long time ago. You see just an ordinary bottle of baby shampoo, and I see only the BEST brush cleanser EVERRRR!!! Yep, that's right, not only will this get your little one squeaky clean, but it will do the same for your very precious and delicate makeup brushes! For so long... too long... I have been using MAC's brush cleanser. While using that I was feeling like I never could get my brushes quite clean enough, and also found myself repeatedly "shampooing" them. Unfortunately, I didn't really realize that there was something oh so better out there. I was recommending that MAC crap to so many people to be the "best" cleanser I know of (thinking it was). Well thanks to all the beauty gurus on YouTube, and beauty bloggers on the internet, I decided to try this out.... and boy, was I glad!!

I'm gonna do my best to give you all a step by step on how to cleanse your brushes with this product.

First off you are going to want to, of course, gather up all your brushes you would like to wash and wet them a bit under a running tap. I use lukewarm water. Just try to get out as much makeup gunk as possible with water, BUT make sure you DO NOT turn your brush upwards towards the water. You want your brush downwards facing the sink. This will prevent water getting into the glue that holds are the hairs in the barrel.

Secondly, squeeze a small amount of the baby shampoo into the palm of your hand (try to keep your hand cupped so that your palm is almost a little bowl). Take your chosen brush, make sure its damp, and swirl it around in your palm until you start to see all the makeup products in the suds of the soap. After this you are going to want to rinse it, and if it isn't COMPLETELY clean, repeat this step. And make sure you rinse very thoroughly!!!!

Lastly, you will want to lay out your hand towel (or even a paper towel) and lay your brushes out. When you are drying your brushes you want to make sure they are shaped the way you'd like them before they dry... We don't any fluffy, funky looking brushes. You want to let them dry overnight, I'd say for at LEAST 8 hours.  Before you use them the next day, maybe wipe them on your hand towel to make sure they're dry, and to get any loose stray hairs off.

This completes the steps for cleansing your pretty little brushes. I hope this was useful for you all and that you enjoy this beauty secret as much as I have.

With squeaky clean hands AND brushes,
Kayla

How to: Make Your Eyes Look Bigger

If you're looking to achieve that "wide awake", opened eye look, just keep reading :)

These are the products I chose to use- Left to right: Lancome Fatale mascara in Brown, MAC eye shadow in Corduroy, NYX eye liner pencil in Yellow, and Urban Decay's NAKED Palette (Virgin & Sin)

Step 1:
You should always start with a clean canvas, so after you have washed your face and applied your moisterizer and primer, go ahead and start with your little bit of eye shadow. You will want to use either a white or cream color shadow with some shimmer to it. Apply the shadow to your inner corner (tear duct area) and to your brow bone. This will highlight your eyes, giving them a natural bright look.*You can also dab some on the middle of your eye lid to add some dimension*

Step 2:
Next take some white, light yellow, or peach eye liner and apply that onto your waterline; this will REALLY make your eyes open up.

Step 3:
Following the previous step, use brown or black pencil eye liner (or a dark eye shadow for a softer look) to smudge into your upper lash line and the outer 2/3 of your bottom lashes.

Step 4:
Once you have completed the steps above, apply the mascara of your choice to your upper lashes, and use what is left over on your mascara wand on your lower lashes.

This was my complete look!
*Note- this is a very natural look. It is not meant to be a full makeup tutorial.

I hope you enjoy this look using these simple steps and tricks :)

Until next time... Have a beautiful day!

                    With all my love,
                                    Kayla
